Cool Things You Can Do With Beads

If you are looking for a new hobby that can be used as a way to relieve stress, then you may want to look into beading. You can bead different types of jewelry, keychains, and even belts. You can also string breads to decorate around your home. If you think beading sounds like something you'd like to get involved in, here are a few tips.

How to bead necklaces, anklets or bracelets: In order to bead necklaces, anklets and/or bracelets, you will need a measuring tape, wire cutters, jewelry wire, crimps, clasps, jump rings, and needle nose pliers.

Use the tape measure to determine how long you want the piece of jewelry. Use the wire cutters to cut the wire at least an inch longer than what you want the length to be. Put a piece of wire through a crimp and make a small loop. Use the pliers to squish the crimp tight on the wires.

Put the beads on in the order you want them to be displayed all the way until you near the end of the wire. Put the end of wire through a clasp and then through another crimp. Use the pliers to squish that crimp closed as well. Now your piece of jewelry is complete and ready to show off.

How to bead a keychain: You can use yarn, fishing wire, or jewelry wire to make a keychain. You can make one strand of beads or many. Use a crimp at one end to crimp all the wires together. On the other end, use a crimp to make a loop and after the crimp has been pinched shut, you can put a keychain ring through the loop and you will have a completed keychain.

How to decorate a doorway: You can measure from the top of your door jam down to how far you want beads to hang. Cut fishing line a little longer than what's needed. Crimp one end of the line so the beads won't fall off. Fill the line to the top. Make a loop through a crimp and crimp it with pliers. Do this repeatedly until you have the number you want. Hammer small nails along the top of the door jam and hang each strand of beads from each one of the nails. This will give you a cool doorway covering you can walk right through.
