Look for furniture that is easy to store. 

There are all kinds of types of patio furniture you could invest in, but some of it is bulky and cumbersome to maneuver. When hurricane warnings come in, you need to be able to pack up the outdoor furniture and move it to a safe place. If it is hard to maneuver, you could be left with no choice but to leave it outside where it will be exposed to heavy rains and high winds. Look for patio furniture that stacks or folds up for easy storage and that is lightweight enough that you can move it to a safe place quickly. 

Avoid furniture with glass elements. 

It is common for patio pieces to have glass implemented into the design, whether it is a patio dining table or accent table. If you live in an area where hurricanes are a threat, however, glass features will not be a good idea. Not only are these pieces more prone to sustaining damage during high winds if they are left outdoors, these pieces can be harder to store and move around without breaking the glass. 

Find furniture that is water resistant. 

Most outdoor furniture is at the least designed to repel water because it will be exposed to the elements. However, during hurricanes, high levels of water can rise on your patio or even in your storage building, so you want furniture that is pretty much waterproof in its design. Skip the heavily cushioned chairs and setees and look for structure materials that will not be prone to corrosion due to excessive water exposure. Furniture pieces that have a good solid structure are the better option, such as those made from composite materials, plastics, or stainless steel.
